Hybrid Golf Club: More Information about This Club

If you are frustrated with trying to use your long irons, you have got to consider replacing them with hybrid clubs. The design of the hybrid is an innovative blending of the best characteristics of both woods and irons into a single club. The irons they replace are the 2 through 5. Like I said, the long irons. Bear in mind that the long irons are a pain to master for most amateurs, so when you hear that hybrid golf clubs are "easy to use", that means they are easier than the long irons. Regardless of that, why exactly are hybrids easier on the golfer learning to use them? First of all, the hybrids are much more forgiving that irons for mis-hits or off-center hits. But there are also other characteristics that account for its friendly reputation.

It's obvious when you look at the typical long iron that the weight of the iron is centered near the clubs face. There is no "back" on them. Since it is better to have the center of weight further back from the club face, the makers of hybrid golf clubs has extended the club head back in order to achieve this better distribution of weight.

With this change there is more weight on the back of the clubs without a lot of addition weight. Some manufacturers of hybrid golf clubs designed their clubs to look more like fairway woods. This results in a club with a head that is slightly larger, due to the extended back, but is not as large as the fairway wood, which would make it harder to hit with.

A low center of gravity is also a desirable characteristic of hybrid clubs. Higher loft on the ball is one result of having a lower center of gravity in the club. This is what increases the "loft" of the ball while not actually changing the loft of the club. The change is slight. In fact you will not like notice the change in angle, except for the fact that the ball will carry further.

Taken together, these improvements combine to create another advantage for these clubs, which is more back-spin on the ball. This stops the ball from rolling as far after landing, allowing you to have more accuracy in your shots.
